Buffalo Bump Story
Because of the delicious family recipes and authentic homestyle pizza, Buffalo Bump Pizza became a busy little neighborhood pizzeria open for lunch and dinner daily. The location is in the Four Corners area just west of Bozeman on the way to Big Sky, Yellowstone park, and infamous fly fishing rivers.
One of the reasons for popularity has been due to the freshly made from scratch pizza dough that includes 5 natural ingredients, total. The dough recipe, given to the owner by true Italian friends, was the building block in making Buffalo Bump Pizza a reality. Many of the tasty sauces were created by the owner, Heather and her mother, Cathy, after plenty of taste testing by her father, Ron. To compliment the original dough recipe, Heather solely created an appealing wheat dough. Besides the enormous pizza selections, the grinders are not to be missed! Buffalo Bump Pizza started out as a homestyle pizza, calzone, & grinder shop, but they didn’t stop there.
As time went on, freshly made wraps, made to order salads, and numerous sides were added. Take and bake pizzas have been a huge hit with families close by, on a Friday night. With ever changing dietary needs popping up, gourmet gluten free pizza crusts & bread, soy and almond milk cheese substitutions have joined the menu. Locals will be the first to tell you not to miss out on a Buffalo Bump Pizza cookie! From the classic chocolate chip, exclusive cookies n creme, to the customer favorite peanut butter M & M, their giant gourmet cookies are all made in house by the owner from her grandma’s recipes or tweaked by Heather, herself.
Curious about the name: Buffalo Bump?
No it’s not the hump on the animal’s back, nor a Buffalo Jump (an historical place where Native Americans rounded up bison). It refers to a human encounter with a bison in Yellowstone National Park that wound up too close, hence getting charged and gored. We like to say, “experience your Buffalo Bump here, not in the park."
